The Woodlands is a northern suburb of Houston. The city has approximately 30 outdoor sculptures ranging from the very abstract, to herds of deer grazing in a field. One of the more interesting ones is called The Dreamer, a large reclining man who appears to be rising out of the median of Woodlands Parkway. This is a large bronze sculpture created in 1989 by artist David Phelps. When I first saw it I was reminded of The Oarsman sculpture in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.
