One of Canada's many larger-than-life roadside attractions. The significance of this 30-foot-tall pencil is not immediately apparent; perhaps an advert for an office supply shop or business park.

It was so cool to come across my Dad's pencil on the internet. My father (Franklin W. Brown) completed that building in 1987 as a new home for his businesses: Muskoka Office Supply and Muskoka Litho. He had the pencil custom-made in Bracebridge from a cedar pole soon after the building was complete, or within a few years anyway. It certainly got some local attention over the years, but to see it as a roadside attraction now is quite the chuckle. My father passed away in 1997 and the businesses were sold. In 2002 the business moved to a new location and left the pencil behind. Miss you, Dad.

Now that I've found my misplaced pencil I shall write down some information about it. Oh, wait, I got nothing. A whole bunch of nothing. I'll leave the pencil here for the next person. I hope you take better notes than me.

The pencil, as tall as the nearby power poles, apparently serves as a sign for an adjacent office building, and probably comes in handy as a winter snow gauge. It's been here since 2010, and possibly long before that.
