This old soldier defended our country through three wars and deserves a visit -- a U.S. Army 155mm howitzer that was used in World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War. It took 11 men to load and fire it. "Big George" had a range of 11 miles and could fire 2-4 rounds per minute.
It was brought to VFW Post 1167 over 17 years ago, and came to VFW Post 360 in 2012 when the two posts merged. It was named "Big George" after George Grenert, who brought it to Mishawaka.
