So this is actually a really neat statue. I figured it would be a pass-by attraction. I wound up hanging out for 45 minutes, watching the airplanes take off and people skydive down.

There is a gravel parking lot and picnic table so it's easy to get out and inspect the statue and hang out watching the planes.

The all-aluminum sculpture was created in 2009 by Douwe Blumberg. It stands at the entrance to Vance Brand Airport; Vance was born in Longmont and became a Space Shuttle commander.
