Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire: World's Worst Weather Museum
More than 140 people have died on Mt. Washington since 1849, and it's not especially mountainous. This museum -- opened mid-June 2014 -- chronicles the awful weather that assaults its summit, which also happens to be the location of the museum. 231 mph wind recorded here in 1934.

- Extreme Mount Washington. At the summit of Mt. Washington, accessed only by the Mt. Washington Auto Road. From US Hwy 2 in Gorham, turn south onto Hwy 16. Drive about eight miles. The entrance to the Mt. Washington Auto Road will be on the southbound side; look for the big sign.

The experience was good even though we weren't able to see down the mountain due to clouds/fog. We actually rode the cog railroad to the summit where the museum is housed. Dress warmly, even in summer.
