A giant Woolly Mammoth is being built just outside of Hot Springs, near the Mammoth Dig Site. It is three times life-size. So far it is about 15 feet tall, built up to its chest. When it is finished it is believed that it will be the world's tallest Woolly Mammoth. It will be 50 feet long long, 36 feet tall, with 22.5-foot-long tusks and footprints that would be 16 feet around. The construction is being done as funds are raised (The sculptor jokes that they plan on being finished with the sculpture "before Crazy Horse"). Folks who visit now can say to their grandkids, "I saw it before it was finished, and now look at it."
