The San Francisco Dungeon has literally dug deeper to create its newest attraction, an "escape from Alcatraz." The hour-long Dungeon tour had already ended at a simulation of the famous prison, but tourists are now hoisted skyward as sirens wail and strobe lights flash, then dropped two floors into pitch blackness (and a newly dug sub-basement) to recreate a prisoner's plunge from The Rock into the dark waters of San Francisco Bay. Construction and "hard labor" (digging) of this attraction took a full year at a reported cost of $2 million.
