Charlotte, North Carolina: Quill Pen and the Writer's Desk
The jumble of sculptures outside the children's library is titled "The Writers Desk," a 2005 work by Larry Kirkland and tribute to former Charlotte Observer publisher Rolfe Neill. A bronze quill pen sticks up from an inkwell atop a stack of books, surrounded by typewriter keys, pencils and hand stamps.
