I grew up next to this place. Your best odds to get to see the inside are to enroll your child in the nearby kindergarten, and then chaperone the annual field trip.

Unfortunately this is on a very busy road so you have to go through the neighborhood park and get out and stand on the corner to snap a photo, but it was worth it.

Lexington's most unusual fire station is called The Cave. Built in 1983, Fire Station 16 appears to be built into a hillside but is actually a concrete dome that was later covered with dirt to create a natural looking hill. The design was chosen because it incorporates many energy-efficient features and remains at a constant temperature year 'round, even if the power were to go out.
