Pueblo, Colorado: Levee Mural: World's Largest Painting (Gone)
Paintings by 1970s university art students on the 3.5 mile concrete levee were first considered undesirable graffiti. Later became an embraced public art project designated as the World's Largest Continuous Painting, with over 1,000 artists contributing cartoons, historical scenes, and scrawls that still looked like graffiti.

The murals -- technically graffiti -- were destroyed when the levee walls on which they were painted underwent extensive repairs. There is talk among Pueblo artists that new murals will be painted when the repairs are completed next year.
