A series of spherical plywood planets -- the largest is eight feet across -- appear to have embedded themselves at various depths into a grassy little traffic island.

The planets are just west of the Guardians of Traffic Bridge, at the intersection of Lorain Ave., Abbey Ave., and W. 24th St.. On the south side, in a little traffic island.

Planet Art: They Have Landed

An outdoor public art display that looks as if a bunch of planets have crashed into the earth. Created by local artist Loren Naji, the display is titled, "They Have Landed," and is at the West 25th Street station of the Cleveland RTA light rail system. It was unveiled on September 23, 2011, and features group of plywood planets at various depths of impact. The largest one is eight feet in diameter and contains a time capsule to be opened September 23, 2050.
