In 1964 Teresa Bellissimo whipped up a late-night snack in her bar -- and invented Buffalo Wings. The Anchor Bar is still in business, but the wooden statue of Teresa is gone.

Went here 7/13/19 and it looks as if the statue has been removed. Regardless, the restaurant is still worth the trip. A lot of fun stuff to see inside, and of course the wings!

Great wings. Got there around 3:30 pm and the place was packed. Wait time was 20 minutes so we sat at the bar in the owner's chair. (Shhhh...)
[Brenden, 10/02/2014]Anchor Bar owner Teresa Bellissimo invented this triumphant spicy appetizer in 1964. Her likeness, depicted holding a batch of buffalo wings near the spot where the breakthrough occurred, was carved from a Maple tree that fell in the storm of Oct. 2006.
