Owners Melinda and Jonathan Jaques have built what they call "The Most Absurd Bar in the World: A Sculpture" in the old wood shed of the historic Lincoln House tavern.
A 25-foot-long stained glass scene anchors one end of the great room. The ceiling is packed with hanging objects: everything from a Beetlejuice doll, to a china cabinet and chairs, to a multitude of strange items that are hard to describe. There are velvet couches, and driftwood animals next to the fireplace.
It opened to the public in 2008 and Jonathan finished it in 2014. He told me it is completed because he doesn't have any more room to add anything else and that he has reached total absurdity. The menu is small and includes several crab dishes, fish chowder, and various fruit and cheese platters; there's a nice selection of beers and wines. The couple runs the place themselves and are fun to meet and chat with.
