Tallulah Falls, Georgia: Tallulah Point: Wire-Walker Photo-Op (Gone)
65-year-old Karl Wallenda wire-walked across 1,000-foot-deep Tallulah Gorge on July 18, 1970, starting at the Tallulah Point gift shop. The shop preserved the moment, with informative plaques, free views of the gorge, and a cartoony photo-op where you could pretend to be Wallenda.

The wire-walker cement base is still there, the wire is not. It's pretty impressive to look directly beyond the cement base and see the sheer cliffs and beautiful gorge! Thus photo is a few feet beyond the base showing the gorge.
[Mavis & Jeff, 09/21/2016]Along the rim of Tallulah Gorge is a strip of abandoned tourist shops. Its seems the only one still in operation is Tallulah Point. They have a small display about the "Great Wallenda," who crossed the Gorge on a tightrope. They also have a cutout photo-op where you can pretend you are Wallenda. This is the gorge where "Deliverance" was filmed.
