Columbus, Ohio: Cardinal Statue
Ohio's official state bird is the cardinal, and its state fairgrounds have displayed a 12-foot-tall statue since 1957. The current incarnation of the cardinal has been there since 1986.

- I-71 exit 111. Drive west on E. 17th Ave. for a half-mile. Turn right at the overhead tram cars into the parking lot. Drive north in the lot all the way to 20th Ave; the cardinal is at that north end.

To celebrate Ohio's official state bird, the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair has displayed a big red Cardinal since 1957. The current bird was built in 1986 of fiberglass, 12 feet tall on a four-foot base, and 16 feet from beak to tail. It weighs approximately 500 pounds.
