Ixonia, Wisconsin: Tombstone of The Smallest Man on Record

When John "Commodore" Lewis died in 1881 he was 24 years old -- and only 27 inches tall. He weighed 19 pounds. His lonely tombstone gives his itty-bitty statistics and christens him "The Smallest Man on Record."

County Rd P, Ixonia, WI
In tiny Bethel Cemetery. A half-mile west of town, on the north side of County Road P. Headstones face west. Look for the big gray tombstone closest to the road (Pugh). The tan-colored Lewis tombstone is one row in front of it, several stones in from the road.

Tombstone of "The Smallest Man on Record"

It seems a new marker has been installed for "The Smallest Man on Record." However, "height" (or "high") has been misspelled (or just shortened). Nice little spot.
