"Cool Gary" Lynn was a well-loved schizophrenic who would hitchhike around Vashon Island, often carrying a chainsaw. In 1998 he jumped in front of a car and was killed. Local artist (and perennial presidential candidate) Gene Amondson, a friend of Gary, carved this statue as a tribute, and it stands today just off the road where Gary was killed.
Shortly after Gary died, a Seattle newspaper reported that his brain had been harvested and sold by the county pathologist.
