For GPS: Excelsior Lutheran Church Cemetery. Beautiful at night -- would be even more epic at sunrise or sunset. Worth the pause to see in person and not driving by on I-70.
[Katye Wray, 09/27/2022]Set back a ways from the interstate and easy to miss during daylight, especially because of all the windmills. I imagine it's way more impressive at night with the lights on.
[SonicedUp, 07/20/2016]Untold thousands of drivers on Interstate 70 have driven by the Excelsior Lutheran Church, which is visible south of the highway. The church is situated on a small hill overlooking primarily wheat cropland. In the spring the little white church looks like a little white island in an ocean of green. In the summer it sets there in the middle of an ocean of waving golden wheat. It is always a pretty spot and picturesque. At night though is when the church really shines, literally. The 60-foot tall Lighted Cross is visible for miles, and appears as a cross from any direction due to its unique design.
