RV Museum and Hall of Fame
This is a beautiful museum -- a kid-friendly attraction that is a must-see. Visitors are allowed into many of the campers.
[Susan, 08/10/2020]The RV/Motorhome Museum & Hall of Fame has reopened in a much larger building right off I-80/90. No more driving through the town of Elkhart to reach it. Besides the historical exhibits and trailers that make up the best part of this museum, the Go RVing people have their own area which features a few of the newest motor home models. Then there's the hall of fame gallery and it also has a 100-seat theater that undoubtedly shows continuous films on recreational vehicles.
[Rich Braham, 05/16/2007]The RV/MH Hall of Fame is in Elkhart, Indiana (MH stands for "manufactured housing"). This museum used to be in Washington, DC, but they decided to move it to Elkhart, which is THE world center of RV manufacture.
The museum houses the first RV ever made, a bunch of 50's style trailers, and the RV wall of fame, with about 70 of the most famous names in RV history. There are even life-sized cutouts of families enjoying the great outdoors by the campfire in front of their Airstream. What better place to stop on a cross-country road trip, especially if you are traveling in your own RV.
