The Peanut Shoppe

The building is under renovation and the shop looks to be permanently closed. The interior is vacant aside from a few of the floor units that held the products.

We found this by accident and are really glad that we did. Mike, the super nice owner, explained that his 1936 neon Mr. Peanut sign is one of the few remaining in existence. The shoppe is filled with vintage Mr. Peanut memorabilia and artifacts including a bizarre-looking 7.5-foot-high peanut roasting machine. Some of the collectibles are for sale. And of course there are plenty of peanut snacks to buy for your continuing road trip. Call ahead. Hours seem a bit random.

Mr. Peanut Neon Sign

There is a large neon Mr. Peanut above The Peanut Shoppe in downtown Columbus. I remember seeing the sign in the 1970s, and I think this is still the original from back then. It is probably six feet tall.
