The statues, previously behind a fence, are now very accessible for photo ops. There are wood chips around the "mom" and a stepping stone path leading up to the "baby." There is a park admission booth, but if you let them know you are just there for the mastodon they might let you in.
[Kitsa, 06/10/2017]The Sharon Woods entrance on Kemper Rd contained a surprise: a Woolly Mammoth lumbering through the forest. We caught it creeping around on a moonless sub-zero night.
[Leo, 01/20/2015]It's supposed to be a Mastodon (There's a "Mastodon Crossing" sign to the left of it, but you missed it in the dark). Mastodon bones have been discovered in the Park.
