This was a last minute detour. When we drove up, Bill invited us in. It was delightfully eccentric.
[Michelle and Shawn Carter, 09/13/2015]Birdhouse Paradise of Bill Larkin
Geodesic dome home, surrounded by at least 3,600 birdhouses and varying displays of colored rocks and statues. The owner, Bill Larkin, invited us inside to see the amazing 1,700-birdhouse display inside the dome and out onto the deck, which overlooks the birdhouse garden. Mr. Larkin gives away a free birdhouse with each visit! A very endearing man. He only wants smiles and a little conversation in return (And maybe a free six-pack of beer every now and then). He told us that the yard display had previously been mostly flowers, but in the past few years he's used more and more birdhouses. He had spent four hours that day just painting them.
