Be sure to stop and check out the LaLaurie Mansion if you can make it there during the Halloween season. The current owner has embraced the home's dark past with a display in an unused doorway. It's behind bars, so visitors can't disturb it.

[Michael, 02/05/2015]The notorious torture chamber lady and her home were adapted into a season of "American Horror Story." Said to be haunted. Owned by Nicolas Cage before its 2009 foreclosure. Since renovated into upscale private apartments, but tour groups gawk from outside.
