Metaline Falls, Washington: Shoe Tree

An old growth cedar tree is strewn and covered with nailed-on pairs of shoes, from National Forest travelers who clearly have pairs to spare.

Directions:
From Nordman, Idaho, drive north on ID-57 for seven miles until it crosses into Washington State. Continue another three miles on NF-302/Nordman-Metaline Rd, a gravel Forest Service Road. The shoe tree is on the west side, just off the road at a road crossing, about two miles short of the Stagger Inn campground.
