Exhibited at the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans, Al LaVergne's 1980 metal sculpture of Miss Rose socializing with a neighborhood bar patron depicts an important institution in the Acadian black community. After the Fair, "Miss Rose" changed hands a couple of times, at one point being left in a field to rust. It was restored for public display by 2004.
