The owner of the souvenir shop, Boutique Nanouk in Ste-Anne-des-Monts (a ski town), assured us that she purchased this statue from the Quebec Winter Festival in the late 1980s. It has been in the parking lot of the shop since then. There is a lot of mold growing on it; a mini-ecosystem!
There are other weird statues at the exterior of the store, but this is the largest and most impressive. In the shop you'll find souvenirs from Quebec. The inventory must be dating back from the 1990s, and it includes t-shirts and sweatshirts of great quality (made in Canada) with an image of Nanouk on it.
