Celoron, New York: Scary Lucy and Lovely Lucy

Sculpted by Dave Poulin in 2009, Scary Lucy shows Lucille Ball during her famous tipsy TV pitch for Vitameatavegamin health tonic. A new Lovely Lucy statue, sculpted by Carolyn Palmer, arrived in August 2016, but the town decided to keep Scary Lucy as well.
Lindsey Place, Celoron, NY
From Hwy 394 on the western edge of Jamestown turn north onto Fairmount Ave. Follow this road about two miles. You'll see a park on the right with a red post fence. Pull in and park; you'll see two Lucy statues: Lovely Lucy facing south and Scary Lucy facing north, about a hundred feet apart.

Not Ugly (or Scary) Lucy

Sharing the same park with "ugly" or "scary" Lucy is the replacement. If you are there in early June, as we were, you might encounter the Celoron rib fest - BBQ rib competition plus live music and kids' activities.

Lucille Ball Statue

Many claim that this Lucille Ball statue is not an accurate representation. Actually, probably nobody thinks that it is an accurate representation, and a movement for its removal is gaining momentum. See it while you still can.

[Steve, 04/07/2015]

Although this Lucy statue bears little resemblance to the real Lucy, it does look similar to another Lucy statue in California, which no one complains about.
