It's still there -- with dial tone!
[Patty Murphy, 06/15/2022]
As of June 20th 2015, there is still dial tone! Unfortunately this is at the small end of the booth spectrum, so skinny folks-only for make out sessions. A local in a wheelchair rolled up while we took photos and told us a lady had an car accident last May, taking out a nearby phone post (black repair patching two thirds way up the pole to east of booth), the phone booth, and a rock fixture. After much outcry near and far, it was rebuilt (and the New York Times did an article about it). He mentioned they had to truly rebuild, as parts aren't available anymore.
