Austin, Texas: The Tejano Monument
Life size bronze figures on a rocky outcropping: a pioneer family, a couple of longhorns, a Mexican cowboy, and, above it all atop a mini-mesa, a puffy-pants Spanish explorer, surveying the land. Largest sculpture on the State Capitol grounds. Politically controversial when it was unveiled in March 2012.

Sculpted in bronze by Armando Hinojosa, the monument was finally unveiled in 2012 after being delayed for years by political infighting. It's the largest monument on the state capitol grounds, and was designed to represent everyone who was in Texas before it became a state, from the Conquistador at the top to the stubborn farm goat at the bottom.
