Port Clinton, Ohio: Fierce Lake Erie Shark (Gone)

A statue of a toothy maneater snarled with open jaws next to a highway off of Lake Erie, which has no sharks. Battered and removed by June 2024; looks like a wayward car took out the shark.

Fierce Lake Erie Shark

No longer there!

[Niki, 07/20/2024]

It's still there, but further back on the property, flipped on its back, and battered. Looks like the shark lost a battle with a car.

The shark now has a website address advertised on his belly. It's right on the side of the road. We didn't even turn our car off!

That URL mostly ruins photo ops. Hiss!

The shark has been given a fresh coat of paint and is looking great. He's in a little gravel patch outside a taxidermy business. Pull into the lot to take a photo.

Fierce Lake Erie Shark

Even though sharks do not live in Lake Erie, a fierce-looking one guards the entrance to Mike's Taxidermy in Port Clinton. It is about four feet high and has an open mouth filled with sharp teeth. It was quite a surprise to see when I was driving by.
