Kittery, Maine: Big Easy Chair
12 feet tall, covered with a fiberglass shell to make it into an easy chair -- a rare style in the Big Chair pantheon. Built in 2004, destroyed by vandals in 2011, but the town rallied and rebuilt the chair in 2012.

- East side of downtown. From US Hwy 1, turn east at the stoplight onto Government St. You'll quickly see the chair on the right (north) side, in front of a large brick building.

The footstool is a mess, very deteriorated towards the back.

The first offbeat photo op as you enter Maine is well worth the stop. The ottoman in front of the chair is in need of some repair, as part of the top of it appears to have rotted away, so be careful where you step. The chair itself is in good shape. There's plenty of parking and it's easy to find.

The chair is big enough for two people. It had mud around it from the rain, so go on a clear day. The kids liked it.
