Superior, Wisconsin: Tour a Great Lakes Freighter on Land
Launched in 1896, the SS Meteor hauled iron ore, grain, sand and gravel, cars, and oil before it was hauled up on dry land and opened as a museum in 1972. Walk up to it on the grass and tap the hull.

- SS Meteor. Follow US Hwy 2 east, through downtown Superior. Continue straight onto Marina Drive (You'll see the Veterans Historical Center on the left). Follow Marina Drive to the stop sign. Turn left. Cross over the little bridge and you'll see the freighter on the left.

Very interesting tour. We tried to go again Aug 2020, but the freighter was closed due to Covid-19. If you have difficulty with stairs/ladders, this will be limiting in some places.
