Tigers painted with Elvis, ancient Egyptians, and more are scattered around the University of Memphis and the city, survivors from a 2011 civic art project.

To celebrate the centennial year of the University of Memphis in 2012, 100 fiberglass tigers were painted in various colors and designs and placed throughout the city.
Some can still be found scattered around town, but the largest concentration of them is on the U of M campus. They are in various locations on campus, but a good place to start is at the McWherter Library, which has eight on its east side and one on the west side. Each tiger is painted to represent an event that occurred in a particular year of the university's history.
