This used to be a Polynesian restaurant named Aku Aku. When it became a seafood restaurant, the statue of the Easter-Island-type guy was repainted as a Gloucester fisherman.

Big pipe smoking statue in a yellow slicker greets you as you round the corner to this seafood restaurant. The sailor was apparently an Easter island type figure at an Asian restaurant before being remade for the fish house. Brings a smile, and a good photo op!

There were originally two big heads flanking the entrance of a restaurant named Polynesian Village. When it closed in 1968 one of the heads was moved here. It became a fisherman when the restaurant changed themes around 2000.
