We didn't have a reservation and glad we didn't. No reservation required after 5 pm, so we just rolled right in and pretty much had the run of the place. Also, since it was in the evening, the colors in the sunset were breathtaking. It was cooler in the day so no issues hiking to the various arches.

Go in the spring or fall. The Devil's Garden and Windows sections have many cool arches and lots of great hiking.
