Madison, Wisconsin: Creepy Mini-Pyramid

Maybe five feet tall, made of cement. Built in the early 1980s by kids at the Preschool of the Arts -- assisted by the school janitor, Doug Parks. Indecipherable designs and faces of children extrude from one side.
Address:
3802 Regent St., Madison, WI
Directions:
Behind the Madison School and Community Recreation building, which is on the north side of Regent St. at its intersection with Glenway St. Park in the lot, then walk east along Regent St., past the building, then turn left (north) and follow the overgrown driveway to the rear parking lot. Walk to the very back, to the fence, and turn left. Follow the trail into the trees. You'll quickly see a small path on the left that leads to the pyramid.

Pyramid with mixed media add-ons.

Creepy Mini-Pyramid

Creepy pyramid has gotten a little creepier. Someone is leaving eerie little mixed-media figurines on and around the pyramid. Starting to look like an inspiration for a Stephen King novel.

We followed the directions carefully, and although we thought an axe murderer might be waiting there for us, we found the Creepy Mini Pyramid in the woods behind the school. Well worth the short hike! You will leave with a lot more questions than answers.

The pyramid was built using sand impressions from pre-schoolers. The faces follow you. A tree either fell right in front of it, or they curved one around it. Creepy. Plus a creepy bird was singing.

We found it! Cue the scary music and imagine it's Han Solo's children in carbonite.

Built in the woods behind a school, circa 1990. Those extruded kids are probably running Madison now.
