Route 66 Neon Mural Wall

Mayor Louie Keen and his staff held an official lighting ceremony Saturday, September 25, for Uranus's new Route 66 Neon Mural Wall. The 20 x 55-foot art installation depicts locations along Route 66. Six of the featured neon attractions are: Ted Drewes Frozen Custard (Missouri), the Blue Whale (Oklahoma), Cadillac Ranch (Texas), the Blue Swallow Motel (New Mexico), the Wigwam Motel (Arizona), and Roy's Motel and Cafe (California). The centerpiece of the mural highlights Uranus's rocket ship. The design includes an eight-foot-high neon Route 66 shield, and a nod to the Mother Road's most famous frog: Waynesville's W.H. Croaker.
