An eagle soaring over a sacred stone stack is a tribute to environmental activist and TV actor Dennis Weaver (1924-2006), best known in "Gunsmoke" and as the car driver menaced by a semi in Spielberg's "Duel."

- Approximately 1.5 miles north of Ridgway off Hwy 550. Turn west at RiverSage Dr. Follow the road down and cross the bridge. Park in the lot on the right. R.V. turn-around available. The entrance to the park is marked by a sign "Dennis Weaver Memorial Park," but you will see the Eagle as you cross the bridge.

Dennis Weaver Eagle
This memorial was erected in honor of Dennis Weaver, an actor best known as Chester on the long running television show "Gunsmoke." In the late eighties, Weaver moved to Colorado and lived in a home constructed of recycled materials until his death in 2006. The memorial features a large eagle soaring above a large prayer stone stack which has spiritual meaning.
