Peace activist Benny Bufano's 30-ft. tall sculpture of a hand without a thumb sat in an office park for over 40 years before it was moved to Civic Park in June 2014. The legend goes that Benny, who died in 1970, lopped off his own finger during WWI and mailed it to President Wilson as a war protest. On the Hand of Peace, inscribed above the horde of people in the planet's embrace: "The children of the world shall inherit the earth."
