Louisville, Kentucky: World's Largest Horseshoe

This 2015 horseshoe was designed to be just a little bit bigger than a 2013 horseshoe in Martinsville, Illinois, but the KY Derby Museum charges admission for a look at theirs.

World's Largest Horseshoe

The newly-minted World's Largest Horseshoe was unveiled at the Kentucky Derby Museum on Sep. 20, 2015, to celebrate the museum's 30th anniversary. It measures 206 cm wide by 213.3 cm high [that's roughly seven feet wide and high] and is made of around 610 pounds of solid aluminum. It was modeled after a horseshoe worn by famous racehorse Secretariat in the 1972 Belmont Park Futurity Stakes. It is mounted so that you (and a couple of other folks) can stand in the middle and get your picture taken. A Thoroughbred would have to stand about 95 feet tall at its withers to be able to wear the World's Largest Horseshoe.
