Lake Placid Tower can be seen from the road...
[Carmen Alvarez, 05/28/2016]
I have lived in Florida my entire life and had never driven down this stretch of US 27. The Lake Placid Tower opened in 1961 and is 270 feet tall. At the time of its completion, it was said to be the tallest concrete block tower in the world. Sadly, the tower is not open any more. But it's still a sight to see.
