Hold $1 Million in Your Hands

An unexpected feature of the Arkansas State Capitol building tour is going into the vault at the Treasurer's Office. Because of Arkansas' history of corrupt politicians and officials, the state constitution mandates that all tax money must be kept in the vault at the Treasurer's Office.

Any time that a citizen wants to verify that the tax money is still there and hasn't been stolen, they can stop by and ask to see it. Because of this law, visitors on the tour are allowed to step into the vault and have their photo taken holding the money. It was a fun part of the tour.
