Hiko, Nevada: Alien Research Center

Great little tourist trap stop. The gentleman who was there running the store was awesome and very friendly. He even bubble-wrapped up some of our purchases so we could send them home.

This weird statue is located at the southern end of the Extraterrestrial Highway. There is nothing there except what you see here. However, there is a nearby ranch with some scattered buildings; the rest is desert. It is on private property, viewable only from the highway. This is in the area of Nevada where the famed Area 51 is, somewhat to the north.

My wife and I recently rode the Extraterrestrial Highway and noted that the Alien Research Center is now sporting a huge sheet metal alien sculpture that stands taller than the building itself.

On the Extraterrestrial Highway between Alamo and Rachel, NV is a large open hangar with a sign outside saying "Alien Research Center: Snoopers Welcome". At the time of our visit it didn't seem to have anyone manning it, but there was a black pickup parked inside. Maybe the owner was abducted?!
