Long abandoned, the Norcross-West Marble Quarry is conveniently right next to a highway. Big marble blocks and a water-filled pit are used as a swimming hole. Historical marker out front.

- A couple of miles south of Dorset, on the northbound side of Hwy 30. It's right next to the highway. Turn east onto Kelley Rd and park in the small parking lot.

The quarry is a hotspot for summer vacation swimming with the younger crowd and can get packed. Be aware that it is forested immediately around the quarry; we have come away with ticks some years (but we had walked through the woods rather than just sat quarry-side).

Great place for a swim. You are allowed to jump from the quarry's cliffs into the swimming hole! Some are scary high, buts lots of fun!

The Norcross-West Marble Quarry was established in 1785. One of its first products was tombstones. It's right next to the highway, with big blocks of abandoned marble just lying around, and a central pit filled with water.
