San Jose, California: Mammoth of Steel
A 17-foot-tall, five-ton mammoth made of bent steel pipes marks the spot where its bones were discovered in 1995. Better than most metal mammoths.

- US Hwy 101 exits 391 or 391A. Drive east on W. Trimble Rd for a quarter-mile. The metal Mammoth is on the north side of W. Trimble Rd just east of the bridge across the Guadalupe River.

Discovered by accident in 1995 by a 44-year-old mechanic (The bones had lain in this spot for an estimated 12,500 years). The Mammoth sculpture, made of bent steel pipes by Freyja Bardell and Brian Howe, was unveiled July 8, 2015.
