Fremont, Indiana: Stand on Three States: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio

Stand on three states at once at a unusual, middle-of-a-road tri-point. The road is unpaved and lightly traveled, but it's still a road. Be careful.
County Rd 1, Fremont, IN
I-80/90 westernmost exit in Ohio (just west of the toll booths). Drive north on Hwy 49, then turn left at the stop sign onto US Hwy 20. Drive one mile. Turn right onto County Rd 1.50. Drive four miles. Turn left onto County Rd S. Drive a half-mile. Turn right onto N. 1000 E/County Rd 1 (a gravel road). Drive a third of a mile. The monument (an engraved brown boulder) will be on the right. The actual spot is 130 feet further south, set into the middle of the gravel road; it's a small square with the letter "M".

Stand on Three States: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio

This is literally in the middle of nowhere -- 10-15 minutes from the highway. Still, a great stop on our road trip! The actual spot is in the road, right where the paved road and dirt road meet. The historic marker with description is down the dirt road a bit and there are a couple of places to park in a dirt patch on the roadside. It was fun to say we were in three states at once.

The kids really enjoyed the adventure of trying to find somewhere a little off the beaten track. Stand in three states at the same time: Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Something fun and free to do to break up a long journey.

Interesting, quick thing to do in the middle of a dirt road.

Stand on Three States: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio

Only 10-12 minutes away from the turnpike exit. Worth a quick detour, especially if you've been stuck in the car for a while. Easy to find - asphalt stops and dirt road starts at the state line. Kids had fun jumping from state to state. I drew lines in the dirt so they could see where they stood.
