- North edge of Newport News. I-64 exit 250A. Drive west to the main gate of Fort Eustis. Park at the Visitor Center to get a visitor's pass (photo ID required) and directions to the museum (It's only a few hundred feet down the road).

Better than it sounds. Exhibits include a floating car, a flying jeep, and a "Cybernetic Walking Machine," failed high-tech experimental projects. Also on display: the "Eve of Destruction" gun truck.

The U.S. Army Transportation Museum includes the DOAK VTOL aircraft that predated the Osprey, but without computer assist, so transitioning from vertical to horizontal flight was extremely dangerous. Great museum.
