Early 1900s miners dug rooms out of cliffs around Shoshone. This roadside one by Harvey Rutledge is more dramatic, as troglodyte dwellings go, with a wooden door. Harvey is long gone.

Unfortunately, the Castle in Clay has been closed due to recent vandalism. There are now "No Trespassing" signs, and cameras to record if anyone does trespass.

After visiting Dublin Gulch, we had to stop here. One cave house had a locked door and seemed to have multiple rooms. There were several holes up too high to really live in, and there were piles of rubble that may have hidden other caves? Anyway, it was an interesting area to climb around.
