Built in the 1960s by Weldon Epperson, generations of travelers have waved and honked at this waving bruin. "Highway Bear" was restored in 2019.

Highway Bear has been visible along Highway 69 for years. The property owner keeps it mowed and manicured, with a path for selfies. They decorate for different seasons -- 4th of July, and so on -- or as a team member of the Chiefs or the Royals. A seamstress makes his clothes.
He is about to get patched up and a fresh air brush coat from an artist. Highway Bear has his own Facebook page.
