Unusual sports statue of Dr. James Naismith with an amiable smirk, wearing a three-piece suit, sitting with a basketball in his hand and a big peach basket between his legs. The prof invented the game at Springfield College in 1891.

- On the campus of Springfield College, on the south side of Alden St. just west of its intersection with Wibraham Ave., and opposite the Babson Library. The statue sits outside the entrance of the modern building with the round bell tower (the Campus Union). Parking is difficult to find on school days.
